Description: Castleton Commodities International is a leading global energy commodities merchant and infrastructure asset investor. As a strategic investor and developer, CCI leverages its market expertise, operations capabilities, and industry knowledge to invest in, and develop, select commodity infrastructure assets. This fully integrated platform has generated strong risk-adjusted returns for our investors since our formation. CCI is hiring an In-House Attorney in either Stamford, Connecticut or Houston, TX to support a wide range of CCI's commercial activities with a focus on merchant energy trading & commercial transactions. CCI will consider candidates directly from a law firm to those with in house experience supporting commodity trading and/or infrastructure activities. This is an excellent opportunity to join a leading global commodity merchant and legal team and gain exposure to all areas of the commodities industry. Responsibilities Serve as a key advisor to commercial teams on trading agreements on deal structures and commercial advisory issues. Negotiate and draft a variety of contracts related to transactions in the physical oil markets (purchase and sale agreements, derivative agreements, storage and transport agreements, etc.) Collaborate with the trading, credit, risk, finance, operations, tax, and compliance teams on a broad spectrum of matters impacting business operations. Manage commercial controversies and disputes, including coordinating with counsel - Serve as legal advisor on acquisition of assets, JV's, and other M&A activity and the integration of those assets into the CCI portfolio; provide legal support to portfolio companies. Coordinate issues across the various internal departments. Manage legal matters in a range of jurisdictions. Qualifications Minimum of 8 years of experience within the commodities marketing/trading practice at either a top law firm or an in-house legal department of a major energy company with sophisticated trading operations. JD from an accredited law school and admitted to practice law in New York, Connecticut, or Texas. Prior experience with physical oil commodity trading and transaction experience strongly preferred. Excellent negotiation, drafting and communication skills. Must be strategic thinker capable of competently and comfortably advising the business development team and interacting with senior leadership.
