Description: Position: Maintenance Engineer Reports to: Prep Engineering Manager Location: Units 8 & 9 The Brunel Centre, Newton Road, Crawley, RH10 9TU Purpose of role The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for maintaining and servicing a range of electronic, mechanical and optical broadcast rental equipment to component level. The role works independently but also works as part of a team of engineers and technicians to ensure a complete end-to-end service. Key responsibilities Servicing, maintaining and repairing a range of broadcast equipment at component level including cameras, lenses, recording devices, signal processing and distribution devices. Updating firmware and software for a range of broadcast equipment. Keeping effective records of repairs and costs using in-house inventory software, an excel spreadsheet and updating hard copy records. Assisting other sections within the engineering department when required. Complying with all relevant Health and Safety rules and guideline. Person specification Relevant qualifications in electronic servicing. Good experience of working within the broadcast section either within production (or post-production), or as an equipment manufacturer or supplier. Highly self motivated. Excellent communication skills, including written and oral English. Excellent IT skills and able to use software diagnostic programmes. Well organised and methodical. Able to remain calm and work under pressure; sometimes to tight deadlines. Ability to gain a thorough understanding of the systems being used at Presteigne. Able to work as part of a team and independently. Prepared to work flexible hours if necessary to meet tight deadlines. The hours are on a 7.5 hours (not including 1 hour for lunch) shift basis between 08:00 to 19:00 although very occasionally there may be the need to work over the weekend, or to be on call if a job needs to be completed in readiness for a customer. |
