Installations Manager - Electrical

Location: Bridgend

Our rapidly expanding, innovative, start-up client are urgently looking to secure the services of an International Installlations Manager to join theiR team on a Permanent basis.

Working alongside a team of Mechanical and Electronic Engineers as well as Materials Scientists and Project Management, the successful candidate will be expected to integrate fully into the eam and conduct research, work on design proposals for projects and work with the installation team. They will be expected to go above and beyond, roll up their sleeves and work 'hands on' to meet their targets.
The role will report to the Senior Technical Manager.

Key Duties

Electrical/Mechanical Engineering

  • Produce Concept, Developed and Technical drawings, reports and specifications in line with businesses plan of work.

  • Develop electrical systems designs including power distribution, earthing, etc where applicable.

  • Author reports and specifications, including the use of appropriate software.

  • Carry out electrical calculations using industry-standard software.

  • Develop spatial and technical co-ordination of the electrical services and their integration into project design.

  • Co-ordinate own work with that of other disciplines including mechanical, electronic and global project specialists.

  • Liaise with clients, architects and contractors where applicable for the delivery of designs.

  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to other members of the team.

  • Take part in and actively contribute to specialist and multidisciplinary team meetings.

  • Consider potential problems and devise contingency plans.

  • Arrange meetings and liaise with other departments, including Business Development, Project Management, Commercial and Installation to discuss and negotiate appropriate requirements, costs and commercial issues.

  • Make presentations to senior management on design proposals.

    Site Visits/Installation

  • Travel to site with appropriate Managers and liaise with sub contracted installation teams and clients alike. This may include international travel (up to 20% of working time).

  • Spend time on site during installation and commissioning to ensure successful project delivery

  • Quality control and Product Sign-Off.

    Technical Support

  • Act as main point of contact for all Technical Support queries from domestic and international customers in relation to the installation.

  • Respond in a timely manner to all customer queries and resolve in line with company Policy.

    The Person - Qualifications & Skills

    Essential Qualifications, Skills & Knowledge

  • A recognised Electrical Engineering qualification (ideally Degree qualified).

  • At least 5 years' experience in Design Engineering within a commercial/industrial environment across a range of project scales.

  • Knowledge of Control Circuits.

  • Ability to read from, understand and interpret Technical drawings.

  • Knowledge in satisfying the regulatory requirements of electrical installations (eg BS and UL).

    Desirable Qualifications, Skills and Knowledge

  • Design experience of working on commercial and high-end lighting and visual display projects.

  • Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team.

  • An understanding of AV products and controls.

  • Experience using industry software packages.

  • A network of industry contacts relevant to the scope of projects.

    Additional Requirements

  • Valid current passport with no visa restrictions.

  • Ability and willingness to travel internationally, sometimes at short notice.

  • Full UK Driving licence.

  • Full proficiency in spoken and written English.

  • Based within reasonable commuting distance of the businesses Offices.

  • High attention to detail.

  • A willingness to build and maintain positive working relationships and to share information with others.

  • The ability to cope with the pressure of strict deadlines.

  • Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.

  • Clear and concise communication skills (oral & written).
