We are currently recruiting for a Security Cleared Infrastructure Architect to join my client on a 6 month fixed term contract. The role will be based within Greater London

My client analysis enables government to formulate national policy and manage public sector finances. This work is crucial to the welfare of millions of people both in the UK and overseas and they provide advice on a variety of topics in many fields. One of the key visions is to be widely recognised for their development of analytical, actuarial and business skills.

The Technical Architect role will sit within the Project Management team and is a contributor to the Intelligent Client' approach to managing the clients relationship with its IT Delivery Partner.

The role is primarily responsible for carrying out an assessment of the clients IT Infrastructure and scope, draft and manage a Technical Design Strategy to support the client in delivering its 5-year IT Strategy.


The Infrastructure Architect will:

As a Technical Architect you will be responsible for reviewing IT Infrastructure in its entirety and identify any potential weaknesses or opportunities

  • Building and maintaining technical roadmaps, looking ahead for future opportunities or blockers and ensuring decisions by development teams align with the strategy
  • Create IT Vision Statement to ensure eventual technical solutions are in line with business requirements as outlined in the clients IT Strategy
  • Scope, draft and manage the clients Technical Design Strategy, including recommendation and eventual adoption of design principles for the clients infrastructure and systems
  • Creating Network diagram(s) of the IT Infrastructure and estate (As-IS documentation)
  • Translating business requirements into technical designs, bringing in wider implications for the overall IT landscape (not just immediate needs) (To-Be documentation)
  • Creating plan for new IT Infrastructure by creating High Level Design Documents (HLDD)
  • Creating individual Low-Level Design Documents (LLDD) for new technologies selected
  • Carrying out first line of defence technical governance to ensure technological solutions are implemented in line with IT Roadmap
  • Ensuring the implementation of agreed architecture and infrastructure
  • Creating all technical service documentation for new services
  • Translating Design Principles into Acceptance Criteria for implementation of new technical solutions
  • Supporting Proof of Concept/pilot schemes for implementation of new technical solutions
  • Producing technical written assessments for the clients Technology Committee (and other governance fora as required), translating technical concepts into non-technical reports to support decision makers


You will demonstrate:

  • Previous experience within a Technical Architect role
  • Government/Public sector experience
  • Current Security clearance due to the timescale of the project
