Position: Grid Engineer - Solar Energy

Description: Grid Engineer - Solar Energy, Exeter, Devon, UK, to 65,000 per annum + bonus

This is a critical engineering role with a renewable energy firm who develop, construct and operate large scale solar and battery storage projects in the UK and abroad.

This role is suitable for an electrical engineer with experience of reviewing and applying for grid connection approvals, someone with the credibility to liaise with DNOs on a range of electrical power projects.

You'll join a high calibre team supporting the development and design process for electrical projects ranging from LV through to 132kV - solar PV and BESS. You'll also review DNO contestable connection offers, compiling scopes for contestable quotations for grid connections ranging from LV up to and including 132kV, customer and any private cable connections.

Essential skills and experience

  • Electrical engineering background with electrical/engineering qualifications

  • Worked within the energy industry for at least 3 years (between 5-10 years preferred)

  • Very organised, with an ability to autonomously manage multiple highly technical projects at once and meet individual targets

  • Self-starter willing to work within a small and agile team

  • Knowledge of the DNO and transmission network

  • Robust understanding DNO connection applications and offers

  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to be assertive when appropriate

  • A positive approach to challenges and problem solving

  • Highly organised with an ability to prioritise

  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)

  • Willingness to develop and learn new skills - Intermediate MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Excellent attention to detail with an eye for accuracy


    Base salary in the range up to 65,000 per annum, depending on experience and value + bonus and opportunity for career development
