Applications Specialist/Tester (Junior)
Imagine you need a legal document. Traditionally, you'll speak to a lawyer - they'll ask questions to understand your situation and make suggestions based on what you say. Then, they'll draft you a document that meets your needs.
Now imagine software doing all of that, to the same quality standard, without the lawyer needing to be there. This is what Epoq's technology does. We make a lawyer's interview skills and drafting expertise accessible to everyone through our document automation platform. This allows consumers and small businesses in the UK to create high-quality legal documents easily and cheaply.
Our development team is responsible for the design and maintenance of the infrastructure that delivers this technology to end-users, from initial document creation through to solicitor-managed legal review and document return, all through sites provided for a growing number of high-street brands in both the UK and the US.
Epoq's document systems are already used to generate over 600,000 legal documents per annum, that number is growing, and the software that supports this progress is always being actively developed and improved - the role has come about due to increasing demand for our services.
Working as part of our small and friendly Development team, we are looking for someone who can act as a point of Quality Assurance for all our new sites, for our document automation processes, and who can grow to be a specialist in our technology and applications.
The role is based primarily in our Borehamwood offices, with some flexibility for partial home working following the completion of a training period.
We seek a confident, technically-minded self-starter with excellent communication skills. Formal test qualifications are very welcome but equally as important is the right attitude and mind-set for the role, and a keen interest in software and software technologies. The role is considered a starting/trainee role within the organisation and so would suit either a technical graduate or a confident, technically minded self-starter with an interest in software.
The role will blend technical understanding and problem solving and requires keen attention to detail. The successful candidate will be evaluating technical changes that generate legal documents, so the role demands excellent written and spoken English (this requirement is significant enough that it will be tested thoroughly at interview). Good IT skills are of course essential, including experience with MS Word and MS Excel, and some general knowledge of database structures and architecture would be a plus, along with any previous software testing experience.
