Position: Manufacturing Engineer
Provides support for the management team by providing manufacturing engineering technical expertise and working collaboratively on manufacturing processes. Participates in continuous improvement/cost reduction events as a team leader.
Recommends methods for improving worker effectiveness, safety, ergonomics and quality.
Recommends methods for reducing costs, including recommendations regarding restructuring job duties, reorganizing work flow, relocating work stations and equipment, and purchase of equipment.
Responsible for keeping abreast of manufacturing technologies and recommending new methods to improve quality and lower cost.
Review and approve part drawings for manufacturability in a timely manner to support ECO process.
Responsible for developing and documenting manufacturing processes for new products and optimizing existing products. Typical processes include manual and robotic MIG and TIG welding; milling, drilling and turning on CNC machining centers, manual and CNC tube bending, end forming and stamping.
Designs work-holding fixtures, tools and target gages for new and existing products.
Oversees tool-room activity and provides guidance to toolmakers as new fixtures are manufactured.
Responsible for acting as Project Manager for new products as they are awarded from customers. This process shall follow ISO 9001 Procedure P-8.3.0.
Provides support for ISO 9001 including developing detailed procedures, work instructions, forms and records as well as supporting internal audits.
Specifies design of equipment and tools to assist in new and existing production processes, and obtain quotes/bids for construction of equipment to submit with recommendations.
Develop capital equipment requests thoroughly and accurately as necessary and submit to the Plant Manager for approval. Capital request >$5K will require corporate approval and follow GAAP depreciation schedules.
Participates in Safety Committee meetings
